While there are many challenges young companies might struggle with, they certainly escaped one that is a blessing and a curse at the same time – the legacy IT systems. Data is indeed one of the companies’ most valued assets, as knowledge (read, ‘data’) empowers better, more informed business decisions. Moreover, chances are your organization already has most of the knowledge it needs. The only caveat, though, is that it might be inaccessible and therefore, pretty useless.

There are few parts of business that the Covid-19 pandemic hasn’t impacted, in some cases creating pervasive and long-lasting change. While no one knows exactly how our lives will emerge from this upheaval, for businesses it’s clear that long term survival depends on agility. Entire workforces have been mobilised in a matter of weeks. Employees – even the Luddites among us – have had to adopt new ways of working and many are in no rush to return to the traditional office!

IDC forecast that 2019 would be the year when enterprise IT spending by departmental managers overtook spending by the IT department itself. Cloud-based on-demand services have become the norm by lowering barriers to technology purchases and enabling cost centre managers to quickly and easily deploy the software of their choice. Flexible subscription contracts gave access to an almost unlimited bank of resource to accommodate seasonal and periodic spikes in demand.

With increasingly draconian measures worldwide aimed at keeping people at home to quell the spread of COVID-19, companies of all shapes and sizes and across the majority of industries are finding themselves in the same situation – how to equip and empower their workforce for mobile working. More than 5 million companies around the world will experience an impact at a cost to the global economy exceeding US$1 trillion.

It has been a week since several of our mVISE and elastic.io developers attended the Vodafone TOBi Hackathon at the Vodafone Sky Lounge in Düsseldorf. Some of them were in the 3rd place team and all contributed greatly to the future success of the TOBi Chatbot. Teams formed, ideas flowed, problems were overcome, and the air was filled with the sounds of developer’s keystrokes!

If you need to work with an attachment – create or send one – there are several connectors that support that. Don’t be confused by what you see now, Simple Trigger is not one of them, but I’m using it here to send some information along the flow. Now what I’m really looking for is the CSV connector, and here I’m using it to create – or, in fact, write a CSV file as an attachment.

To explain the usage of our content-based router that enables you to add some business logic to your integration flow, let’s imagine that I have received a Google Spreadsheet file with unsorted leads data, for example, from downloading a coupon on a website. To convert these leads to customers, I’d like to offer them something of interest with a specifically targeted campaign based on the country of residence. For that, I need to filter and split the list.

With the code component, you can add any type of code and therefore, create your very own, custom connectors. It’s dead simple to use – it is already provided with some default code for reference, which you can, of course, delete and replace with yours.

In this video, I’m working with our REST API connector to connect to our own elastic.io Integration Management API. We offer several ways to authenticate an API depending on its configuration. Here we take basic authentication with username and password. Now with the elastic.io API, the username is actually the email address you registered with. You can navigate to the Profile Information page to copy it from there.

To start working with a MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle or MSSQL database, all you need to do is to select our Database connector. We have already learned from the short video on credentials that there are quite a few fields to fill in when you need to connect to a database for the first time. The data you see me enter here is merely from our test database.

Shadow IT risks. Shadow IT - applications that have been procured without internal IT's knowledge - has ceased to be an issue that only big enterprise companies have to deal with. Now any-size company has to deal with it one way or another.

The impact of cloud computing is immense, with more and more businesses widely using cloud business applications. Integration scenarios that system integrators address on a regular basis are often repetitive. Sophisticated integration solutions are, however, in most cases out of SMBs' financial range. This creates a gap between the increased SaaS consumption and the ability to integrate cloud-based services efficiently.

elastic.io is an industry-first microservices-based hybrid integration platform as a service (iPaaS) that empowers IT organizations to accelerate enterprise digital transformation. In 2017, elastic.io became part of mVISE Group, a German public company with over 15 years of consultancy and project experience in IT.

elastic.io’s primary motivation is to support large corporations and mid-size businesses alike in their digital strategy initiatives by helping them spend less time on gathering data together across the entire organization, and instead, have enough time and resources to focus on using this data to improve business operations or to develop new products and services.

Benefits:

  • Speed: elastic.io’s hybrid integration platform comes with a rich library of pre-built connectors for mainstream business applications. Thanks to them and due to high reusability of any integration component, you can reduce your own integration efforts by up to 80% on average.
  • Designer: With the intuitive Designer, you can easily transform data between various applications and systems by mapping incoming data into the specific fields where the next integration components expect them to receive.
  • Monitoring: The elastic.io hybrid integration platform comes with all the necessary tools to detect inconsistencies in your integration workflows, find the source of errors and fix rebelling workflows within one or two hours.
  • Scalability: Each individual integration step on elastic.io can be scaled independently, ensuring high horizontal scalability. It is also highly scalable vertically via individual container resource configuration (RAM + CPU).
  • Deployment: Though being by nature an ideal fit for cloud applications, the elastic.io hybrid integration platform can be easily connected to the existing on-premises IT estate or deployed on-premises altogether.

To connect APIs, on-premises and cloud applications quickly and securely.
