Creating a DevOps workflow to optimize application deployments to your Kubernetes cluster can be a complex journey. I recently demonstrated how to optimize your local K8s development workflow with Rancher Desktop and Skaffold. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch it by viewing the video below. You might be wondering, “What happens next?” How do you extend this solution beyond a local setup to a real-world pipeline with a remote cluster?
In 2021 we saw corporate investments in the cloud spike, although business leaders are still struggling with cloud projects in terms of education, guidance, and talent. In 2022, our view is that cloud investment will remain strong, with more business leaders taking ownership of their cloud journey.
Lambda is a top-rated compute service available on the AWS cloud service network. Its popularity largely derives from its ease of use, allowing users to run Lambda functions reliably without provisioning or managing servers. Lambda can be triggered manually or by any linked events in the AWS network, including DynamoDB streams, SQS, Kinesis, and more.
Securing an SAP environment is critical to any organization and as the use of public clouds grows for these environments, so does the concern of SAP security. These hyperscalers all have teams of people working around the clock to ensure their solutions are impenetrable. Third party cybersecurity solutions are often used as well to make sure these environments are safe and secure.
S3 buckets without encryption can leave sensitive data exposed and at risk. As a best practice and to meet a number of industry and governmental regulations, it’s important to ensure that S3 server side bucket encryption has been properly applied at all times. To do this, many security teams rely on their Cloud Posture Security Management (CSPM) platform and/or AWS GuardDuty to monitor their AWS resources and provide alerts when an S3 bucket is found unencrypted.
For some time now, people have understood the importance of early warning systems, whether for detecting earthquakes and tsunamis, military defense, or business and financial crises. Why should service providers, especially those delivering software as a service (SaaS,) be any different? In a world where time is money and minutes mean millions, it is vital for organizations to keep a very close eye on the supply and delivery chain of their service to their end users, both business and consumer.

Online privacy is no laughing matter, until it is. Now, we’re very serious about fundamental human digital rights and we work day and night to make sure our users' data is wrapped up safe and sound. But that said, sometimes you need to take a step back and relax. Yes, how corporations and governments track us online is horrifying. Of course, the erosion of personal privacy and individual freedoms is worrying. And yeah, the world and the internet are in rough shape right now.
Based on the Teneo customers I’ve spoken with in the last 12 months, adopting a ‘‘Cloud-First’, Multi-Cloud strategy is often a top priority for Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) teams. However, many organizations have multiple clouds and cloud services mixed with physical data centers and Co-Lo (co-locations). And as a result of running multiple applications and services stitched together, user experience suffers.

Learn why a hybrid approach to Azure and Microsoft 365 monitoring can be beneficial and what steps to take to get clear insights into SLA fulfillment.
Bare metal servers are a valuable option for all sizes of businesses, including small, medium, and startups companies. When designing infrastructure it is important to manage cost. However, the decision on whether to run your application on bare metal or cloud provider should not be driven by the size of your company but by your infrastructure needs. Each approach has its own tradeoffs and complexities, especially since it is difficult to find two clouds with the same parameters.
In the field of Chaos Theory, there’s a concept called the Synchronization of Chaos—disparate systems filled with randomness will influence the disorder in other systems when coupled together. From a theoretical perspective, these influences can be surprising. It’s difficult to understand exactly how a butterfly flapping its wings could lead to a devastating tornado. But we often see the influences of seemingly unconnected systems play out in real life.

The Simple Notification Service, or SNS for short, is one of the central services to build serverless architectures in the AWS cloud. SNS itself is a serverless messaging service that can distribute massive numbers of messages to different recipients. These include mobile end-user devices, like smartphones and tablets, but also other services inside the AWS ecosystem. SNS’ ability to target AWS services makes it the perfect companion for AWS Lambda.
With the introduction of Cloud computing services, let it be the Family photo sharing feature on iPhone or documents on Google Drive, sharing and keeping up-to-date information became easier than ever before. All Cloud-based products require no direct resource management from the user and ultimately create one of the most popular ways to store data whether you’re a scholar writing an essay or a new business owner trying to build an online shop
Gartner introduced a new security architecture called Security Service Edge, or SSE, back in March 2021. Now finally, after a long wait, they’ve just published their first Magic Quadrant for SSE in February 2022. This begs the question, is SASE dead? To answer, we need to look at what is SSE vs SASE, and what are the challenges SSE addresses. For easy reference, Gartner created the following SSE definition.

In 2022, it’s hard to find places in the business and technology ecosystem where performance is not measured, where lots of data is not collected and where insights are not analyzed to improve operational and business performance and trace accountability.
Avoid Writing a Lot of Try Catch by Catching The ‘catch()’ Just Once. How annoying it is to write a lot of try-catch for each async function in an express app? What if you never need to write a try catch block for all async functions and still be able to handle the errors?
You have many options when it comes to choosing a platform to deploy your app. In this article, we will compare AWS, Heroku, and Qoddi. Heroku is hosted on AWS, making Heroku, like Qovery for instance, nothing more than a management platform for AWS services. You can do everything you do on Heroku (or Qovery) directly with AWS for a lesser price but Heroku removes all the infrastructure management layer (or DevOps) you still need to have with AWS or any other cloud providers.
We've gone through many iterations of ways to build, deploy and distribute applications written in Go at Cloud 66. Unlike Rails, Go applications can be web applications, daemons or CLIs and therefore have different requirements. I'll share some of what we've learned with you in this post.
With the proliferation of security SaaS platforms, such as Cloudflare, Proofpoint, and PingOne, enterprises must figure out how to integrate third-party data shipped over the internet into their analytics and SIEM platforms. This requirement to integrate third-party data raises a host of security, infrastructure, and data quality questions. Enterprises can lower risk, and complete projects faster, by using Cribl LogStream Cloud to solve their challenges in managing third-party SaaS platform data.

Compared to the previous generation, today’s generation of startups are increasingly cloud-centric. The previous generation of dotcoms had to suffer the economics and complexities of deploying, managing, and scaling their own servers, networks, and data centers. In contrast, today’s generation grew up in the just-in-time, pay-for-what-you-need, and scale-up-on-demand world that is cloud native.
A recent eG Innovations & DevOps Institute APM survey of more than 900 IT professionals indicated that AWS is the dominant cloud service provider. Organizations are deploying a wide variety of workloads on AWS cloud environments to ensure agility, scalability, and high availability of their application services.
The rapid growth of the marketplace and increasing competition require companies to make significant changes in the way they offer services and products. Companies that wish to remain competitive must keep an eye on technology development and adapt to any new technology if it becomes available. Each new cloud service provider in cloud computing contributes fundamentally to promoting growth and competition at the same time.
Many organizations leverage AWS to build fully managed, event-driven applications, which break down complex workloads into APIs, event streams, and other decentralized services in order to improve performance and scalability. This type of architecture relies primarily on AWS Lambda functions to process synchronous and asynchronous requests as they move between a workload’s resources, such as Amazon API Gateway and Amazon Kinesis.
Over the last couple years, cloud transformation has become increasingly critical, evolving from a preferable priority to an urgent imperative. In our rapidly changing world, organizations have had to innovate at unprecedented rates — and those most successful are harnessing the power of cloud to move faster and smarter. But it’s more than a simple migration.
Bram Vogelaar is a DevOps Cloud Engineer at The Factory, and he recently delivered an intro to observability talk during our Grafana Labs' EMEA meetup. When I talk to customers, they might tell me about how their applications are running in two data centers, but when we probe a little further, it turns out that their observability stack is only available in one of them. This revelation hit close to home last March.
