Aiven Senior Solutions Architect Tony Piazza joined the company in March. Within months he had merged five PRs adding Google Cloud support and Terraform-based provisioning to the OpenSearch Migration Assistant, a tool that previously only worked on AWS. Tony talks with Jay Miller about: Why he went from consulting to open source contribution. How a consultant’s habit of finding project risks early shaped the work. His first conference keynote at OpenSearchCon. What contributing as a vendor-neutral company looks like. Where he’s contributing next, including ML Commons, Data Prepper and the docs.

Why did we do this? Not important: jump to 1:31 to see the Pis. TL;DR: We stuck Minecraft on kubernetes running on 4 Raspberry Pis in a 3D-Printed case, and monitored it with open source observability. Huge thanks to Percona DBA Ivan Zaitsev for putting the demo together for Percona University, Montevideo. Coroot automatically collects and visualizes all your telemetry data: logs, metrics, traces, profiles, and a complete map of your services. With the complete context of eBPF, it can diagnose the exact cause of an incident in seconds, and show you the exact commands to fix it.

LLM providers charge you for caching, and they do it on their terms. You can run it yourself for a fraction of the cost. In this Aiven webinar, Jay Miller (Staff Developer Advocate) shows how to use semantic caching and semantic routing on Valkey to cut prompt costs + latency. You'll see a working demo, "Template Scout", that searches GitHub for deployable repos and picks the cheapest model that can answer each question.

Aiven and SFEIR walk through what a governed, AI-ready foundation for product data looks like, and what it actually takes to build one. We'll be joined by Céline Thooris, Managing Director of WEnvision (SFEIR group), and Stan Dmitriev, Product Director for Aiven Context, sharing a first-hand view from the field and a concrete next step. What to expect.

My interview guest is Kristiyan Ivanov creator of BetterDB. In this conversation we talk about building tools to observe Valkey and Redis as well as AI Observability, the Valkey Community and More! Aiven DataHub is a managed data catalog that helps you and your agents find, understand and reason on top of your data in data sources like PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Kafka or BI Tools. In this video Stan dives into Aiven DataHub and shows how to set it up so context is derived from metadata, or the lineage between services. He also dives into examples on how to get deeper insights about your data through prompting Aiven DataHub.
