Our second SolarWinds Day was another success! For our second SolarWinds Day, we focused on our customers. We shared exciting new product updates, new tool releases, and some helpful tips for navigating 2023. I’ve always been wary about vendor events. In my experience, many of them are mostly marketing pitches, with little or no content that is applicable to my use cases. Despite that, last year I decided to convince my manager to let me attend ObservabilityCON 2022 to see what I could learn from it. My hope was that I would be able to get practical knowledge that could be applied as soon as I got back to work. (Spoiler alert: I did!)

2023 started with a boost of positive energy after attending my first CES EDGE23 federal event sponsored by the GBEF (Government Business Executive Forum). As a sponsor of this year’s EDGE23 conference, I represented ScienceLogic as a co-moderator to a very relevant and thoughtful executive round table on navigating the challenges associated with ‘Continuous IT Modernization’.

In November/December 2022 I attended AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas. It was certainly an experience for this small town kid from New Zealand, and one that I took a lot away from. After two years of virtual and reduced-size events, AWS re:Invent was in full swing for 2022 with over 50,000 attendees — more than double 2021’s in-person attendance. Among the many new service and feature announcements, there were two themes that resonated (re:Sonated?): event-driven architectures and cloud-powered innovation.
